My vision for the next 5 years:

From the many achievements of my predecessor, Cllr Kingsley Wakelin, I will strive to continue where he left of in delivering the services to our residents, as such my vision for the Ward is as follows:

  • Ensure that we have a safe, secured, clean and value for money services rendered by the city to our residents.
  • Resuscitate the SAPS, CPFs, Region 4 TMPD and other stakeholders’ relationship in all the Ward 48 communities to combat crime i.e. (cable theft, vehicle hijacking and housebreaking) and enforcement of Municipal Bylaws i.e. (clearance of illegal dump sites and fining offenders).
  • Create an environment that is friendly to business and produces employment opportunities for the community, a haven for families to call home.
  • Ensure that our parks, natural spaces are taken care of and are managed properly.
  • Traffic lights that are working when needed, potholes that are properly filled, stormwater drains that are able withstand the pressure in the rainy season, trees being pruned to the safekeeping of our overhead electric cables
  • Have an open-door policy where residents can be able reach me esp. in the time of need for my intervention. A monthly tracking report of incidents will be made available to residents.
  • Making a follow up if Waste is not collected and consequence management.

All this will be in tandem with the DA 10 Point manifesto – see below

  1. Prioritisation of the electrical grid and water infrastructure.
  2. Provide stringent financial management and oversight.
  3. Promote employment and economic growth in the city.
  4. Enhancing city safety and emergency services.
  5. Maintaining a clean and protected natural environment.
  6. Develop Road infrastructure and advance mobility
  7. Supporting the vulnerable and providing social relief.
  8. Modernisation and digitisation of city processes
  9. Promoting good governance, accountability and transparency
  10. Implement a robust Covid-19 management strategy

My hobbies:

Reading newspapers to keep myself abreast about my surroundings and more, books- my current read is by Prof Bonang Mohale – “Lift as you rise.”

I love watching movies a lot and with wife, I am ardent Kaizer Chiefs supporter that goes to the stadium every 3rd game. We travel quiet extensively with wife and sometimes with kids, we take turns in cooking at home, so cooking is not a chore at the Fosi’s.

Ward 48

2021 has been another tumultuous year for South Africans with the ongoing pandemic and its impact on the lives of our residents and the loss of family and dear ones. We can never fully grasp their pain and hurt but they are not alone and will forever be in our prayers and thoughts.

In December 2021 we saw the formation of a stable majority led coalition government for the City of Tshwane which will seek to govern in the interests of all our residents. The coalition partners have entered into an agreement which sets out clear objectives and priorities for the next five years. This agreement is open to the public and will be the yardstick against which the coalition partners will be measured.

The COVID-19 pandemic and various lockdowns have had a devastating impact on all residents, and I encourage you to reach out to your friends and neighbours in acts of kindness over this festive season and in the New Year, to support local businesses, and voluntary organisations and to explore the many attractions and opportunities within our Ward and the City of Tshwane.

Many local businesses advertise their services on our WhatsApp channel, the Ward 48 Business Network. By supporting our local entrepreneurs and small and medium businesses we can help support our residents in these difficult times, sustain and create employment opportunities and also enjoy the cost savings they are able to offer.

Ward 48 is fortunate to have many not for profit and faith-based organisations which reach out to the less fortunate amongst us and seek to restore the environment. Through facilitating food and clothing distribution for the poor, restoring the natural environment through river restoration projects or clean up campaigns or providing food and shelter to animals in distress, these organisations are always in need of volunteers and support, especially in these times.

Ward 48 boasts many attractions especially within the Ward boundaries from developed urban areas offering contemporary attractions and activities to rural areas with their monthly local markets and community events, to the protected Crocodile River Nature Reserve which offers interesting and informative learning opportunities for young children and residents wishing to learn more about this unique Nature Reserve in our Ward.

I hope all residents of Ward 48 had a peaceful and safe festive season especially members of the Christian Faith, a blessed Christmas. Above all, I wish all residents of Ward 48 a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

I look forward to working with all our residents in the coming five years as we address the challenges and obstacles which may face us in the years ahead.

Kea leboha, Thank you, Dankie, Ngiyabonga.
